How do I add data to the SCE (soilless controlled environment) module?

Use this article to help understand how to provide Sandy with your greenhouse dataset

This section of Sandy requires you to enter information about your glasshouse(s) in Sandy's Soilless Controlled Environment module. If you have added your greenhouse(s) to Sandy previously, you can skip ahead of this first section. If not, read to find out how to begin onboarding your SCE data.

Click to Sandy Setup, then Enterprise data, and Soilless Controlled Environment, and finally the green Manage data button. Select Manage dataon the relevant farm. Next, click +Add Greenhouse, to add your greenhouse and compartments. Save and then follow the instructions below to provide further SCE data.

From the Homepage, this can be accessed by clicking on Sandy Setup in the menu on the right-hand side of your screen, then click Activate Services. Next, in the Carbon tab, click Manage data.

  • Crop name and variety - from drop-down lists

  • Crop yield

  • Planting date

  • Growing media - from drop-down list

You can add more than one growing media record by clicking the green + icon.

We encourage you to add the harvest date of your crop in this section also.

Crop residue data

Select the correct farm, greenhouse, and compartment from the dropdown lists, then click + Add crop residue.

In the next screen, you can provide the quantity of crop residue and the management type(s) used. If you know the dry matter and nitrogen contents of the residues, this can be added here also.

In this section, you initially need to choose the crop name, crop variety, and planting date. You can then select an operation group (such as nutrition, seeding, crop protection, irrigation), and then whether a manufactured or organic fertiliser has been used. You can also specify what fertiliser has been used, plus the quantity and a total application unit. Click Save to confirm.

Input data

Manufactured fertiliser

Using the fertiliser data you have already inserted into Sandy in the Operational data section, now you can specify what exact fertilisers you applied to your crop.

Organic fertiliser

Like before, this section allows you to specify the exact fertilisers you applied to your crop.

Fuel & energy data

This section contains 4 sub-categories that ask data relating to energy and fuel consumed by your greenhouse. In turn, click Setup and provide your data.

Please note: you may not have relevant data for all 4 sub-categories if you do not have a CHP system.

Now you have provided all your SCE data within Sandy, navigate to the carbon calculator to run a calculation.
