We’re delighted to announce Sandy V5.1, a major platform release delivering two significant upgrades: Biodiversity – Expanded onboarding and a powerful new dashboard for biodiversity insights. Carbon Scenario Analysis – A brand-new tool to model, test, and compare carbon outcomes before making management decisions.  Together, these releases strengthen Sandy as the leading decision-support platform for sustainable farming, giving farmers and advisors the ability to plan with confidence, measure with accuracy, and act for impact.

Biodiversity

The Biodiversity Service now supports all land-based enterprises – Arable, Perennials, Permanent Grassland, and Woodland – delivering a complete picture of biodiversity performance across the whole farm.

Highlights

  • Smarter Onboarding – Enhanced direct entry with new filters, grouped grids, bulk editing, and dynamic forms. A redesigned Excel template with improved structure, duplicate validation, and non-cropped area capture ensures seamless onboarding.

  • Management Practices Enhancements – Default values, automatic tillage prepopulation, improved tooltips, and permanent grassland support for consistent data entry.

  • Biodiversity Dashboard

    • Performance Scores – Overall biodiversity score (0–5) with component breakdowns (wildlife, pollinators, soil biodiversity, etc.).

    • Recommendations – Field-specific actions with projected score uplifts and impact ratings.

    • Comparative Analytics – Benchmark biodiversity performance across farms, fields, and crops.

    • Reports – Central hub for storing, filtering, and accessing biodiversity assessments.

Carbon Scenario Analysis

A brand-new module under Sustainability > Carbon, Carbon Scenario Analysis gives farmers and advisors a safe, flexible space to test “what if” scenarios and explore how land use changes and management practices affect carbon outcomes.

Highlights

  • Flexible Scenario Building – Run scenarios at farm, field, crop, or crop ID level. Test changes to cropping, fertiliser, crop protection, and fuel use. Apply management groups or explore land use changes (Arable, Horticulture, Temporary Grassland, Biofuel).

  • Guided Workflow – Step-by-step setup with filters for year, farm, enterprise, and crop. Save, reset, or finalise scenarios at any time.

  • Results & Analytics

    • Before vs After Comparison – Net carbon balance, emissions, and sequestration, with percentage improvements clearly shown.

    • Key Drivers – Breakdown by management practices and land use change.

    • Enterprise-Level Analysis – Source and gas breakdowns, emission intensity, and % change tracking.

    • Farm, Field & Crop Views – Drill down into the details that matter most.

    • Land Use Change Summary – Clear table showing land use transitions by farm and field.

  • Outputs & Exports – CSV downloads and visual dashboards that highlight performance improvements at a glance.
