Sandy V5.0 – Perennials Template Update

We’ve introduced a major update to the Perennial Cropping template in Sandy V5.0 — making it easier to input the right data, follow required formats, and ensure carbon calculations are consistent across enterprises. This update introduces new tabs, streamlined column structures, and clearer guidance across the board.

As part of our ongoing improvements to Sandy, we’ve released a comprehensive update to the Perennial Cropping template designed to better reflect the diversity and complexity of perennial systems.

This update aligns with the latest science, enhances data structure for carbon accounting, and improves usability for farmers and advisors alike.

The breakdown below outlines all the key changes to tab names, data fields, and input expectations.

🔁 Renamed Tabs and New Structure

To support improved data alignment, we’ve renamed several tabs and introduced a new one:

  • Cropping Data → Perennial Data

  • Cropping Details → Prunning Data

  • Soil → Soil Testing

  • New tab added: Natural Capital Features

  • Biodiversity column removed from the Sandy Guide tab (under "Required tabs for each service")

📋 Updated Tab Order (for Perennials workflows):

  1. Farm Setup – Required for Carbon

  2. Enterprises – Required for Carbon

  3. Field Setup – Required for Carbon

  4. Perennial Data – Required for Carbon

  5. Prunning Data – Required for Carbon

  6. Residues Management – Encouraged for Carbon

  7. Operational Data – Required for Carbon

  8. Manufactured Fertiliser Details – Required for Carbon

  9. Organic Fertiliser Details – Required for Carbon

  10. Crop Protection Details – Required for Carbon

  11. Soil Testing – Encouraged for Carbon

  12. Fuel Machinery – Encouraged for Carbon

  13. Fuel Dry and Storage – Optional for Carbon

  14. Natural Capital Features – Encouraged for Carbon
