Setting up a carbon calculation for my Woodland enterprise

1. Excel Onboarding & Data Management

Users can now manage woodland data seamlessly through Excel:

• Download the Woodland Template directly from Sandy

• Populate data offline using a structured Excel format

• Upload the completed file to onboard or update data instantly

In addition, users can:

• Export existing woodland data from Sandy

• Edit, delete, or add new records in Excel

• Re-upload updated data to refresh calculations

This significantly simplifies initial setup and ongoing data maintenance.

2. Enhanced Carbon Calculator (v2 Upgrade)

Version 2.0 builds on the existing woodland carbon model with improved scope:

Core Capability (unchanged)

• Calculate net carbon balance for woodland at the field level

• Based on:

  • Species mix

  • Woodland stand age

  • Woodland stand area

  • Optional harvested biomass

NEW: Fuel & Energy Emissions Integration

Users can now optionally include:

• Fuel usage & Energy consumption

These are incorporated into the carbon calculation to provide a more complete net carbon position, accounting for operational emissions.

• If not provided → calculations still run

• If provided → more accurate, real-world footprint

• Farm, Field, and enterprise setup

• Woodland data for each field

  • Woodland type

  • Species Mix

  • Woodland Stand Age

  • Woodland Stand Area

Encouraged data (recommended for enhanced accuracy)

• Woodland data

  • Harvested Biomass

• Energy data

Providing encouraged data improves accuracy but is not required to run the model.
